Betty Efferson is energetic, spontaneous, and creative. She is self-taught and has attended many workshops in oil, pastels, collage, watercolor and drawing. Her play of color and quick brush strokes show her impressionist style of painting. She creates still life paintings, which are drawn to the personality and unique shape of each object. The lighting that is observed creates an exciting spectrum of color that always appears in her still life. Living in Louisiana she captures the “flavor of the landscape” in her swamp scenes and rural homes. Painting outside; she finds the perfect path shaded with trees and flowers. Trips to Montana add a different realm of landscapes, waterfalls, streams and the use of a different environmental palette. Painting her grandchildren and unposed subjects is another love. Usually a quick sketch or photo captures the very essence of their being. Spontaneity adds to Betty’s ability to go easily working from one medium to another and feeling equally comfortable in all.
